HR consultancy is the right fit when you have a specific piece of work rather than an ongoing gap. Our HR consultants come in for a defined project, agree the scope and the price up front, and hand you a finished piece of work: a completed restructure, a rebuilt pay and grading structure, a rewritten policy suite, or an independent investigation report. Everything is solicitor-backed, so the recommendations you receive are ones you can actually act on.

What our HR consultants are usually brought in to do

Most projects fall into a handful of patterns. An employer is restructuring and needs the process designed and documented before consultation opens. A pay structure has drifted and no longer stands up to an equal pay question. A handbook has been patched for years and nobody is sure which version is contractual. Or a grievance is serious enough that it needs an independent investigator rather than a line manager.

In each case the value is a consultant who has done the same piece of work dozens of times, can tell you in the first meeting where the risk sits, and can produce the paperwork rather than just advise on it.

  • Restructure and reorganisation design, including selection criteria and consultation packs
  • Pay, grading and job evaluation reviews, with equal pay risk flagged
  • Full policy and handbook rebuilds, aligned to current UK employment law
  • Independent grievance, disciplinary and whistleblowing investigations
  • TUPE due diligence and measures planning on a purchase or outsourcing
  • Culture, engagement and exit-data reviews with a prioritised action plan

HR consultancy or outsourced HR: which do you need?

The two are often confused. HR consultancy is project work with a start and an end: you buy an outcome. Outsourced HR is an ongoing relationship: you buy availability, day-to-day advice and someone who picks up the phone whenever a manager is stuck.

Plenty of employers use both. A consultancy project puts the foundations right, then a retainer keeps them right. If you are unsure which you need, we will tell you plainly on the first call, including when the honest answer is that you do not need us yet.

How our HR consulting services are priced

Every project is quoted as a fixed fee against a written scope, so you know the cost before you commit. Day rates are available where the work is genuinely open-ended, such as interim cover, but our default is a fixed price with a defined deliverable.

We publish the scope, the deliverable and the timescale in the proposal. If the work grows, we agree the change in writing before we do it.

Why UK employers choose our hr consultancy

What businesses tell us makes the difference when they switch their hr consultancy to EmployerHQ.

A named consultant, not a team of juniors

The consultant you meet at scoping is the consultant who does the work. No handover to someone more junior once the proposal is signed.

Fixed fee against a written scope

You approve a scope, a deliverable and a price before anything starts. No open-ended hourly billing and no surprise invoice at the end.

Solicitor-backed recommendations

Advice on restructures, dismissals and pay is reviewed by qualified employment solicitors, so it holds up if it is ever tested.

A finished deliverable

You receive completed documents, packs and reports, not a slide deck of observations that leaves the real work with you.
