As soon as you offer someone a job, even verbally, a contract exists. You must provide a written Statement of Employment within two months of the employee’s start date. This Statement of Terms is the minimal legal requirement, however it does not protect your business, so we would always recommend drawing up a formal Employment Contract.
A comprehensive Contract of Employment allows an employer to be clear on an employee’s duties and responsibilities, so that everyone knows exactly what is expected of them.
